Father's Day is WHEN!?!

So, uh, the calendar has been neglected as of late (did anyone know that today is Flag Day?) and I just realized that Father's Day is this weekend. I really thought I had another week.

Does anyone else have an impossible to shop for dad? Okay, probably the wrong question. Let's try again: Who has an easy to shop for father? Anyone?

I'm currently stumped as to what to get my dad and my father-in-law (as Brent is quite possibly the worst gift-giver on the face of the planet. But hey, everyone has got to have a flaw.). They aren't golfers, fishermen or even tie wearers, so that automatically eliminates most of the generic gift ideas that are commonly pushed on unsuspecting consumers.

Can I pick your collective brains? As you are all good children, I'm sure your Father's Day shopping is already complete. Have any ideas to throw my way? And more importantly, do you think I could get by with some macaroni and glitter creation anymore?

Well, let's see. . .

Wait a minute! Does this mean you will be in the midwest for father's day? Or are you the UPS-driver-delivered-gift-giver-type? (not that that's bad, amazon.com is a life safer for me atleast 6 times a year).

My Father (and Mother) are going to be out of the country for the big daddy's day celebration. So I don't have too much to worry about. Although. . . Last weekend I was In Osky to see the family (My sister had #4 child) and I think I left an entire 6-pack of boulevard Wheat, So I guess my dad got an early Father's day present.

Anyway, no , I don't have any suggestions. Maybe a new bowling ball?

First of all, it sounds like you need to get yourself to your local library and find the monthly holiday calendars...Then you won't miss Father's Day, Flag Day or even Throw-Chocolate-Mousse-Out-the-Window Day! :)

Secondly, I strongly encourage the UPS-driver-delivered gift giving method...it's good for business :) Although you may soon be out of luck unless you want to pay through the nose to get it there on time.

Does he grill? Or like to eat at some restaurant? You could get him some grilling "accessories" or a gift certificate. Always go through the stomach...

My dad is pretty easy to shop for - there is always a cd or dvd that he would enjoy. If that fails, I use the trusty ISU t-shirt or sweatshirt. But this year, I'm going sentimental - framed pictures of him dancing with Jennifer and me at our respective weddings. (Ahhhh...)

Did I miss Throw-Chocolate-Mousse-
Out-the-Window Day? Boy, do I need to get a better calendar.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I knew you'd all come through with something that I'd be smacking myself on the forehead for not thinking of it myself.

I'm a UPS gift giver all the way, and like Robert, Amazon is usually the way to go. However, Amazon can't help me with Teresa's brilliant suggestion of ISU apparel, which I think will work perfectly for my dad, especially since I can put Carmen in charge of the purchase as she stayed in Ames for the summer.

For the father-in-law we've decided to go with a Best Buy giftcard -- wrapped in the ugliest tie I can find at Goodwill. Think something from Mr. Daleiden's smashing wardrobe...

Yes, Little-Teresa did get married! Yaaay, I knew something before someone else! That's a first!

Unfortunately, I did not see these posts before leaving for vacation last week. And so promptly missed Father's Day all together. I even talked to my dad yesterday, after coming out of the wilderness from my 5 day backpacking trip, and forgot to say anything!

ME = Worst Son Ever
